Beautiful Kyushu

This onsen is only useable at low tide, at high tide it's under seawater!

What better way to relax my acheing muscles than naked on the rocks with 2 Japanese men?

Yakushima crab

Where else would you want a white convertible corvette....

But on a tiny Japanese island with a 50kmh speed limit and 10m annual rainfall? Passion knows no bounds.

Cottage Morinokokage.

Anbo restaurant. Many of the fisherman families also run delicious sushi restaurants where the special really is dependant on the catch of the day.

Room with a view.

Anbo, Yakushima.

The slow ferry to the mainland.

Big beers.

Japanese ferries are a stately affair. This one had pachingko, vending machines, a manga library, tatami rooms to sleep and the girls working on board gave me free guavas!

Then we took 3 vintage trains up to the mountains.

Ring the bell!

Every stop people came out to take photos and check out the trains.

The scenery was breathtaking, especially along the river from Hitoyoshi to Kumamoto.

One station had 1000s of business cards from train travellers.

the mountains were alive with autumn colours.

We stayed near a little onsen town called Kurokawa Onsen.

Autumn "koyo" foliage

You can buy an "all you can onsen" wooden medallion.

Vroooom!

this guy guards the cemetery.

R34 GTR v-spec Nürburgring special! No better car to churn through the mountains in.

Outdoor "rotamburo" onsen

Sarah relaxed after her 1st onsen.
